Volunteer- Gwinnett Braves Concession employ the moderately disabled

  • Feb 12, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Forsyth Area Sports Teams, ( FAST ) the sponsor of this group has been chosen by the Gwinnett Braves as one of the nonprofits that will operate concession stands for this years Triple A baseball games. Money from these events will employ at least 2 and up to 4 moderately to profoundly disabled high school students this summer. We will also have money to increase the effectiveness and the activities of this group. You will need to attend one 3 hour session at 6 pm at the Gwinnet Braves during the last week in March and attend one live training event March 30 or 31. Games are mostly on weekends but some games are during the week start at 6 pm. We are asking trained volunteers to consider working at least 7, of the 72 games. You get free parking, free admission, meal, uniform and you can watch the game during breaks and when it is slow. Most volunteers would work 4 hours with staggered schedules to cover the 6 pm start time of the game. We need at least 10 people to be leaders that can take turns supervising for 7 games each. As we get going we will have disabled adults helping us and we will need more volunteers to help assist them. Volunteers will be recognized for their efforts to earn the funds to employ these disabled adults.

Hi Myeshia, looks like my post didn't stick, but you have to be 18 and attend a 3 hour food certification class at the stadium (free).

Alan, question - so what is the Feb 12th date for is the training is in March? I have a conflict for the Feb 12th date, but I'm pretty sure I can make the March dates

So there is not meeting on feb 12th?

No meeting on the 12th. I am meeting with the Gwinnett Braves on the 13th, and giving them the number of the people who said they are interested in volunteering. The training will take place one month later in March. The volunteering opportunities will start in April.

I'm unable to do this because I've already made a commitment to another organization.

I won't be in town that week. So I can't do the training. Too bad as I would have like doing this.
