How to Survive in Spite of Yourself ~ Carl Smith

It's tough out there in the Web Design world. There are a handful of people who have "been there, done that" with just about every situation you can encounter as a professional designer/developer. Carl Smith is one of the few that can shine the light of experience and wisdom on the path to success working in this industry. I highly suggest you come hear him speak. About the talk: Call it great luck, solid decisions or a refusal to fail, but nGen Works is still here and going strong. Carl will share the good, the bad and the ugly so you can learn from their successes and failures. From the IRS walking in the door demanding $20,000 to developers getting hooked on drugs and skipping town. It's a no holds barred session where all questions are encouraged and no answers will be filtered. Don't miss it. About your speaker: Carl is the founding member of nGen Works, a digital creative team that has been building some of the world’s finest hand-crafted websites since 2003. Carl has made a name for himself in the web world by always defending the needs and wants of the end-user. He has been privileged to lead teams that have been awarded the New York Art Directors Award For Interactive Development, The Hospitality Industry's Best of Show Award, two National C.A.S.E. awards for Educational Web Development and has also been featured in Kelly Goto's best selling book Web Redesign: Workflow That Works. Carl spends most of his free time complaining about sites that say “click here,” chasing his daughters, and praying they never make Spiderman 4.

Food and Drink Yep, we'll have something for you to munch on, too. Pizza or sandwiches and drinks of course. No more rushing to grab a bite to eat before you arrive!

Design Feedback and Open Q&A After the presentation we will take some time for anyone in the group to get feedback on a project they are working on. Whether it's a design comp, programming question, business plan, user interface decision, or any other web design question – just ask the group and we will do our best to help. We're looking forward to a great turnout, and a great event so RSVP now to reserve your seat.

Post Meetup Mixer at Fado Be sure to join us at Fado in Buckhead immediately after the event for networking, food, and fun. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.
