Atlanta Flex User Group April Meetup

This location is shown only to members

April's meeting is going to be a exciting night centered around Audio and Video in Flex, Flash, and AIR, otherwise known as the Flash Platform.

Alan Queen on Dynamic Audio with Flex/Flash/Air

We'll explore the new capabilities for audio in Flash player 10 and discuss how these new features can be leveraged to create everything from music synthesizers to full blown multi-track audio sequencers.
We'll also take a deep dive into the code on how to draw audio waveforms, and how to play and mix multiple audio streams in real time.

Alan Queen has been developing in Adobe/Macromedia products for over 10 years and specializes in Flex/AIR applications. He's worked for companies such as IBM, Shockwave.com, and Schematic and is now developing audio applications for Aviary.com. His background is in music and sound engineering, and his audio application "Digimix" won the Adobe Air Derby at Max07.

Kenny Bunch on Building Media and Video Applications.

We will explore some of the potential entertainment based applications that can be built with the Flash player. The exploration will utilize samples from Playstation, Adult Swim, and others as a basis for discussion. In addition, we'll take a look at how the Dreamsocket Media Framework provides a foundation for delivering these types of apps.

With 20 years in software and eight in the entertainment industry, Kenny is regarded as an innovator and expert in the field of broadband video. In his role as developer/architect at CNN, Cartoon Network, Bellsouth, and Gametap, he developed some of the most highly trafficked applications in the world. He then went on to form Dreamsocket, where he has continued this innovative work with clients like Disney, Scripps Networks, SonyBMG, Rolling Stone, Nascar, PGA, Motorola, IBM, ING, and a host of others. It is clear that Kenny has one solid focus: change the entertainment industry. Whether speaking at conferences, consulting with clients or developing products, he is making strides at this objective everyday.
