Unit Testing

Thanks very much to Pushpay for the food and drink and Orion Health for the venue!

Tonight we will start with 3 short talks:

- Radu Dumitru on TDD in Groovy
- Rob Fonseca-Ensor on PowerAssert.Net
- Richard Paul on Outside-In Development

We'll then take a short break to eat some tasty grub before the main event.

Once we're all full and sleepy, Kevin Isom will delight us with a talk on JavaScript testing: Everybody wants to test their JavaScript but "almost" (apologies @wrumsby) nobody is actually doing it. This talk will cover testing frameworks, structuring tests, running tests and how to actually do something with the test results.

Kevin is a Front-End engineer at Pushpay, a front-end champion on dev teams, and when not writing code he's at local developer community events expressing his opinion or helping other developers.

Great occasion to learn, also very exciting for me as I had my first presentation.

For those interested in impactNPO, the lady speaking was Lynn Shrewsbury ([masked]). More information can be found at http://impactnpo.org/

I don't know of a single NPO that doesn't rely on goodwill and donations as their lifeblood to do the great work they set out to do.

Pushpay's platform is particularly well suited to helping NPOs easily and effectively request and receive donations. Especially so through out Network For Generosity programme for NPOs not yet ready to wade deeply into credit card merchant facilities.

I would encourage anyone looking to contribute to the http://impactnpo.org/ events to look into how Pushpay might benefit these organisations.

Good meetup, speakers, and pizza! I would suggest stricter time management on behalf of the organizers/speakers. This can be achieved by honest communication ("Hey I know you asked for 10 mins but I think I need 20"), or a timekeeper who is willing to step in when time runs out. Thanks to all the sponsors for making this possible!

Due to the popularity of this meetup we'll be in Orion's lunch room rather than the usual room. Please enter using the usual entrance on Grafton road. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Also note the doors open at 6pm and we will kick off at around 6:30pm.

Anyone please update if there is free parking available at Orion Health or someone going from near Sandringham/New Windsor ?

    1 · August 12, 2014

    • Marcus B.

You can park in the Orion's staff carparks (free) - they'll become available as people leave for the day. There are 2 available, one on the corner of Grafton Road and Khyber Pass, the other around the back on Madeira Place. Note that while these say reserved, feel free to park in them during the meetup.

I've just bumped the seats up to 100 which is a little more than I was really allowed to :) Please ensure you update your RSVP if you can no longer make it. Thanks.

I just updated my RSVP as I couldn't make it.

Hi. Looks like we're going to have a great turnout this month! I've added a few more seats, but there's still quite a few still on the waitlist. Please take a minute and update your RSVP if you can no longer make it. Thanks.
