    Who wants to play Risk

    May 26, 2016

  • Mark B.

This one seems to have reached a stale mate. Does someone want to suggest a new event, host and we'll get it limited to 6 RSVP which is the games' limit and then the attendees can decide on a date. There is enough interest here for 3 different events so host away! Any Q's about hosting drop me or Chris a message.

maybe have 2 people host with each one picking a different date and hopefully most people can do at least one. location: if not someone's home there are plenty of pubs that are happy for people to come along (best to call first). i met a guy in the pub of The Surrey Hotel, 465 Great North Road a month ago in the evening and the place had suitable tables and was quiet

Actually it's my son who loves Risk. He's 14 and whips out butts every game.

He plays online but would love to play against more people.

Hi, is this a game that a new B can learn in a short period of time?

    April 10, 2013

    • Richard

The rules of the game are easy. Strategy is the hard bit but you learn off what the other players do. Guard your continent(s), don't get too weak by trying to do too much, stop other people from getting too powerful. Always make one successful attack per turn to earn a card.

The weather is so good at the moment, why not meet in a park? How about Coyle Park, there are large tables.

    October 27, 2012

  • Adam

hey guys. Let's get a venue chosen! I'm still up for meeting at one of the places in my msg of 25 Sep.

Twice I have met boardgamers in a pub and the management don't mind at all and never bothered us although to be safe it's probably worth checking first.

Options: -Kokako cafe, 537 Great North Road, Grey Lynn
-The Kingslander, 470 New North Road, Kingsland
-The Surrey Pub, The Surrey Hotel, 465 Great North Road, Grey Lynn (less likely)

If you catch them on a quiet night, The Juice bar in Parnell has a whole extra room. if you ask them nicely they'll even turn the music down. :-D

      September 25, 2012

  • Ken

so how can we make this happen? Are we looking for a location?

    September 24, 2012

  • Adam

i like board games but don't like alcoholic drinks. :-o double secret capital risk - never heard of it but it sounds good! maybe to warm up we could have a standard game then something like the above

    August 22, 2012

  • Ken

I'm in! Anyone heard of double secret capital risk? It kind of stream lines the game and goes well with a couple beers.

    August 21, 2012

  • Adam

I've only played standard Risk but I'm sure I could learn any version.LOTR risk would b fine.Alternatively here's a version I just thought of: world dumb-arse domination:
    -no mission cards
    -objective: occupy all territories
-whenever a person is eliminated they have to get up, dance, make silly noises and basically act like a dumb-arse.With every person eliminated the dumb-arse bar is raised i.e. every act has to be increasingly silly.
-the winner get's a sensuous massage. lol. maybe not

    Maybe - depending on date.

I had just finished a quick game of risk on my phone when I saw this. I am IN!

    July 28, 2012

  • Richard

Have you tried Lord of the rings risk? It is even better than original risk. The mission cards are interesting and you have leaders and sites of power and strongholds. The movement of the ring determines when the game ends so it doesn't go on forever. May be hard to get a hold of though.
