We have NZ Transport Agency doing a talk on their new system. These guys are coming up from Wellington for our next meetup. We have a few other ideas booked in.

Mark Rickerby will be talking about "Understanding Uncertainty":

Mark will explore the landscape of social design and emerging patterns
for user authentication and online sign-ups, illustrating the failings
of common assumptions built in to popular frameworks and CMS
applications. We'll look at some surprising research into the ways in
which different user account models affect content quality, and how
evidence from large scale usability testing and psychology can help
guide us design more robust workflows that are easier to understand.

Last spot is Web Bites, each speakers talks for 10 minutes on 5 topics in rapid succession. This aims to cover a lot of ground very quickly and expose meetup peeps to a wide variety of ideas. We should have about 5-6 speakers in this spot.

Would love to see everyone at the next meetup if you can make it and looking forwards to a big night.

John.

Great to see so many APIs being developed for people to use, and they are free

Marks presentation was great in that it created a lot of debate. The 5 slide format was a little messy where it appeared that some presenters were trying to pack too much in... maybe this format could evolve into a Twitter style... then a one word summary.... and then 2 mins of silence :)

This was my first attendance and I wasn't sure what to expect as am not a developer or web designer, but was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it as what I do like is ideas and passions and there were lots of those explored.

I also picked up some great resources to use and met some interesting people.

The first 2 presentations were really good, but the Web Bites segment dragged on a lot. I think that many web bites speakers was too many for 1/2 a meetup. Having a web bite at the start, one between each main presentation, and one/two at the end could be quite cool.

Content could not have been more relevant, thanks to all the speakers. Good to hear from some designers too. Was there vege Pizza? I could not find it.

Understanding Uncertainty needed a bit more editing - really interesting but not delivered in a cohesive and punchy way. NZTA was good to see, but pity they didn't hang around to talk more ... the big interest of course is in how much this is part of a bigger movement - the particular offering advertised had limited relevancy. The quick-fire presenting at the end was just too ambitious, as it often is - it's better to under-schedule these things because they will always run over.

Don't know if this has been done recently, but I'd like to see a topic on colour management - from photoshop and css to how it looks on different screens. Any experts out there?
