New Meetup: Creative Freedom Foundation / Google App Engine (and docs) sponsored by WEB09

From: John B.
Sent on: Friday, January 30, 2009 3:46 PM

Its the first meetup of 2009, the date has slightly changed to this Thursday, Feb 5th.

This month Web09 is flying in Matthew Holloway co-founder of Creative Freedom Foundation. This foundation was started by him and his wife to address serious issues in the Copyright Amendment Act which comes into effect on the 28th of February which is LESS THAN ONE MONTH AWAY. Their goals are:

- No Guilt Upon Accusation Law
- DRM Free New Zealand
- No Companies Snooping on Your Internet

I highly recommend that you come along to this session and to get involved with the signing the online petition.

Next up from the upper reaches of the North Island, we have Vaughan Rowsell (Voom Studio principal). Vaughan is coming down form Kerikeri and will be talking about Google App Engine and why you should look at this platform for running your next web application. This will be an introductory look at some of the pros and cons of App Engine and whether you should consider this for your next project.

Hopefully a nice cool hands on demo for our last spot, nice and quick.
Looking forwards to seeing you there, and thanks to Web09 for sponsoring this months event!
