Home Automation through a mobile phone

(using a Zigbee network and a Raspberry Pi)

In this presentation, I will do a small demonstration of a mobile phone controlling various things, using a Raspberry Pi as the coordinator between the phone and a ZigBee wireless network.

I will discuss what needs to be done at each layer of the stack:

Setting up the ZigBee network.

Setting up and programming the Raspberry Pi (mostly Python).

Coding the HTML/CSS/JS mobile interface so that it looks like an app.

It is aimed to be practical, introduction level guide, so I'll keep the bafflegab to a minimum.

Unfortunately Paul our lead Presenter for this evening has run into a difficulty re tonight's Zigbee preso.

Martin Somers, co-manager of MMUG-Dublin has agreed to execute at short notice our Plan B backup plan we hope you will enjoy.

There will be lots on intro to basic electronics, electronic learning kit tutorials, Arduino, zigbee and some surprises.

Also still possibility Paul can make it this evening.

Join us for a drink later in Smiths. We apologise for any convenience caused.

We look forward to meeting you later.
