Update - Monday could also work for me or any Tuesday except the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Then I think we should investigate Mondays or Tuesdays. How does Tuesday sound? It's certainly better for me.

I may not be able to be host/organize then. Daughter has soccer games on most Fridays. I can start things off depending on when first meeting is.

It sounds as though there's enough support out there to make this work. It also sounds as though a number of people would prefer another day than Wednesday. Friday's not great for me but I would certainly do my best to attend the first few to see how it goes.

I also have never attended since I am unavailable on Wednesdays. Another night would be great.

I am open for other nights than Wednesday, especially since the second Wednesday coincides with another bookclub. Friday's work for me...seems to be the preference. Tuesdays and Mondays work for me as well. Only Thursdays are prohibitive for me.

Hi,

I've never been able to attend, although I've been a member for a while. I couldn't make Wednesday nights. However, my schedule recently changed. I can make Wednesday and Friday nights and would love to start attending. Tiff Holland

I couldn't do a Friday night group, but don't schedule around me because I would only attend irregularly on a good night.

I am somewhat new to this group and have not been able to attend yet - although I'm hoping to.
I would be interested in a Friday evening group - it would make it easier to attend with work these days.

I'm open to any type of book - including bestsellers.

I've been attending another book group the second Wednesday of the month for about two years so will probably opt to continue with that. Is anyone in favor of Friday?  I've noticed Wednesday and Thursday are currently used for existing book groups as well as other sorts of groups meeting in Austin.

Bestseller lists: like and dislike----depends on the book---but don't often use a bestseller list in choosing a book to read.

We have almost 250 members now and our monthly meetings are well attended. However, some members have told me that they'd attend more often if we were to select a few more "current bestsellers" than we have of late. Equally, some of our more regular attendees have said that they would like to meet more often than we currently do.
I've been giving this all a bit of thought and have concluded that we could perhaps have two meetings per month with the new one being on the second Wednesday of each month and the current meeting continuing on the last Wednesday.
The new meeting would focus more heavily on the current (or recent) bestseller list.
I'd be grateful for your input on this. Please let me know if you would more likely attend a meeting with a more current focus or if you prefer the existing arrangements. All other comments and suggestions would also be welcome.
If we do expand to two meetings a month, I would try to attend both meetings myself but I would like someone to be kind enough to volunteer to generally run with it.

Thank you

Peter
