Let's enjoy winter with a nice weekend at Pedernales Falls!
This 5000+ acre park borders some very scenic stretches of the Pedernales River and has six miles of river frontage, as well as the rugged and picturesque falls area. Activities include hiking trails, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, swimming (the water will be cold, but I'll jump in if you will), and horseback riding. Sorry, horses are not allowed to camp overnight at this park.
I will arrive Saturday morning to grab a good site. I plan on hiking at 1pm on Saturday.
We don't expect a burn ban, so bring firewood and we'll light 'er up! Please use the message board to discuss food planning.
COST: The campsite cost comes to $6 per person. Please pay upon arrival.
You will also need to pay an entrance/activity/parking fee of $7/person per night at the gate.
PARKING: Only two cars are allowed at each site — others will have to park in the overflow parking area, which is a good little walk from the campsites. When you arrive, expect to unload your gear and go park your car. We will arrange it so that someone can follow you to park your vehicle in the overflow area and give you a ride back to the site.
Save some gas and parking spaces, please use our message board to arrange carpooling.
SHOWERS/TOILETS: Yes. Restrooms with and without showers are near the campsites.
KID FRIENDLY: Yes. Please read our policy on camping with children.
DOG FRIENDLY: Yes. Park rules require that all dogs must be attended and on a six-foot leash at all times. When we are in certain unpopulated areas, upon everyone's agreement, we may let the dogs play off-leash. Please read our policy on camping with dogs.
RV CAMPING: These sites will accommodate an RV up to 35 feet. However, the sites I have reserved will be for tents only. If you wish to bring an RV, please reserve your own site and expect to arrive early Friday afternoon so you can get a spot near our group.
DIRECTIONS: The park may be reached by traveling 9 miles east of Johnson City on FM 2766 or by traveling west of Austin for 32 miles on US Highway 290, then north on FM 3232 for 6 miles. Google Map.
