Sunday April 15th 2012 - 10am to 2pm at St. Edwards Park

Cost: $20 each (kids 16 and under can attend for free with paying adult)

After many successful completions of fire by friction with bow drill you may want to move on to the more advanced hand drill. Join us as we learn about this more than 100,000 year old form of fire making. Students will learn about harvesting techniques as well as proper form for making this an effective fire by friction method. Each student will collect materials from the land to make tinder bundles and hand drill kits that they will take home to practice on. Bring your endurance for this one, your going to need it.

Students should bring:
Full water bottle
Lunch and/or snacks (there will be breaks)
Camp Knife (folding or non-folding)
Pen/pencil
Notebook/pad
Ready to learn attitude

    It would have been 5 stars if it hadn't rained. While I still can't make a fire without a match, it was REALLY cool to watch Chris do it in a matter of minutes.

    lol. you used a live oak fireboard!? wow. thats brave. seeing as it is a super hard wood. but hey whatever works best for you is what is best. but thats awesome you have been practicing. Looking forward to seeing you get a coal out there, so bring your kit :)
