CLGNA Fall Gaelic Football Tournament

Gaelic football is one of several traditional Gaelic games played to this day in Ireland and around the world.  There are four official teams in Texas, three of which went to the North America GAA Playoffs in 2012, including Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin.  Dallas even sent a ladies team who came back with the Shield Tournament Championship!  Hats off to the Dallas Ladies.  Maith sibh.

On behalf of the Austin Celtic community and Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Naomh Antaine, I would like to invite all of you to watch or even participate in the 2012 Fall Gaelic Football Tournament in San Antonio, TX.

The tournament will be hosted by your very own Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Naomh Antaine (CLGNA), "San Antonio Gaelic Athletic Club".

This is a free event.

If you have any questions, please email Jerome at [masked]

For a detailed video demonstrating the game or for more information, refer to the links below.

Travis, get better buddy. You know the drill. Drink your fluids, sleep, live right and we'll see you next time. There's bound to be another game/tournament coming soon. I hope your health improves as soon as possible. If you wake up on Saturday and you're feeling less under the weather, you're still welcome to come down and kick about with the GAA. Sláinte duit, freisin.

Travis, no worries and thanks for the heads up. I was sick for the last couple of days myself and just now got over it. Hope you feel better.

Jerome, thanks for hooking us carpoolers up! I've been ill lately and I'm not going to be able to make it. I'm bummed about this, but I hope to be able to come to one in the future (and to possibly play). Michelle, thank you for the offer to carpool! Slainte!

Travis and or anyone else that wishes to go: if you are still planning on going and wish to carpool, we could meet in Kyle at the Home Depot. This is on the way to San Antonio from Austin, exit FM 967 off service road of 35...just pick a time.

Travis and Michelle, if you two plan on carpooling together to come to the Tournament this Saturday, I suggest you coordinate the carpool you are proposing today, so you aren't scrambling to make last minute arrangements on the day of. I will be in touch for questions if you have them.

Audrey, there is growing interest and participation in Gaelic games, language and culture all over Texas. I will keep Austin Celtic up to date on Gaelic cultural events whenever they are scheduled. If I hear about it, you'll find it posted here. There will be plenty of events in the near future. San Antonio's 2nd Annual Pub League is to be held in February or March.

Travis, good on you for organizing a carpool. Absolutely brilliant!

Hi - I had no idea there were Gaelic games being played in Texas. I'm from Dublin and just get used to not being able to find any Irish cultural things here in Austin (other than a handful of pretty decent Irish pubs of course). I can't come to this event, but hope to come to another soon.

Auds! How are ya, kiddo? What's new? I'm hoping to go to this one, but if not I'll go to one in the near future (truthfully, I'd like to play in the league).
