Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

I am self-taught, and I started in November 2008 after I quit smoking. I soon found out that there is much more to fiber arts than just acrylic and nylon.

What's your favorite fiber?

It ultimately depends on the project. I have many fibers that I have not explored so I don't know that I have a particular favorite just yet. If I had to pick just one, I would say mercerized cotton - light, washable, simple.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Lacey scarves and shawls to fend off the cool evening air.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

At first I thought it would be something to do for just a little bit but that thought quickly went by the wayside. What's not to love - many people love handmade, heartfelt gifts and I love to make them!

Introduction

I am rather introverted and shy, until I get to know someone. I am trying to meet others that share my passion for fiber arts and learn new techniques.
