Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My Grandma taught me, then I forgot most of it, picked some up from books, took a class to refresh myself, and then figured out Continental from books. I've been knitting off an on for about 4 years.

What's your favorite fiber?

I love sproingy wool! I like most natural fibers, but wool is my favorite. I also love wool and silk blends, alpaca, and kid mohair.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Shawls, fingerless mitts with lots of cabling, lacy smoke-rings, and comfy sweaters. Or a very fine-gauge ginormous rectangle to use as a sail on the raft I've built for getting off the island. Or a hammock...

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

haha. I love it, don't think I'll ever give it up.

Hi! I'm Beki. I've been living in North Austin, for three years. I love to knit and spin, and am all about socks and shawls and other knitty bits. I love getting together and knitting in public with other people. See you soon!

What Beki is saying about this Meetup Group

The group was great. Good conversations, knitting and crochet help & friendly faces. Definitely a group I would like to spend more time with. :)
