A friend tried teaching me how to knit many years ago, but I never got the hang of it. It wasn't until I took a class where I learned how to knit in the round that I finally had that "aha!" moment and finally felt like I got it. That was about 2 years ago.
Acrylic. Since I mostly knit chemo caps, wool isn't a good choice. Although I think I could do some damage with an unlimited line of credit and some quivet.
I'd probably try and knit a replica of my puppy and my cats for companionship. Luckily, I'd only need 2 colors to do so.
I really enjoy working with my hands. I especially like knitting when my husband and I take long road trips in the car. Knitting seems to calm my mind yet I feel like I'm still accomplishing something. I get frustrated that I can't knit fast enough.
I'm originally from WI, but have been in Austin for about a decade. I actively volunteer with Austin Pets Alive and love to knit chemo caps.
