Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

A friend showed me how to knit when I was in high school (the 1960's), and I've been knitting off and on since then. I've gotten help at knit shops for problems and a few techniques, but, mostly, I'm self-taught.

What's your favorite fiber?

Wool of all kinds.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Scarves and blankets - if I were stranded on a deserted island, the pleasure of the process of knitting rather than having to work on proper fitting and style would be what I would enjoy.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

A lifelong pleasure and interest.

Introduction

I'm new to Austin and would like to meet some new friends who share my interest and love of knitting.
