Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My husband is an avid gamer and while dating I taught myself to knit to occupy myself while "watching" him play games. I had a Leisure Arts intro to knitting book. It took an entire day to learn to cast on and knit 5 rows of 20 knit stiches.

What's your favorite fiber?

I am starting to lean towards bamboo/silk blends, but my stand by is 100% merino wool.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

I'd say I'd make lots of cardigans and stuffed animals. I'd need to make animals to talk to; like a herd of 'Wilsons'. :)

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

It is a lifelong passion, but I get derailed by 2nd sock syndrone and end weaving. The scrapbook/cardmaking and sewing obsessions are also distractions.

Introduction

I'm Nitknit, a wife & mom who loves to collect yarn and knitting stuff. Pre-kids I used to finish projects, but nowadays I have more UFOs. I like to roam Ravelry and secretly stash sock yarn. My hope is to get out of the house and actually knit!
