Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

UPDATE: I can do both of these things! I am ok at knitting and slightly better than awful and slow at crocheting. Wahooo!******* I do not knit or crochet--I've tried to learn and hopeless was the nicest comment I've heard about my abilities. I cross stitch and have happily worked in proximity to a crocheter for several years. I've been cross stitching since I was old enough to change the lettering on those cheap little kits from hobby lobby and make them say bad things. My first was a bouquet of flowers that said "boogers" underneath it when I was in the 3rd grade. I am HILARIOUS.

What's your favorite fiber?

Either really smooth and soft or fuzzy and soft. Basically, if it would be itchy to roll in a cocoon made out of it, I want it gone.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

A very poorly constructed raft that cannot float, so basically a wad of sadness and despair that is very soft and is like arms lovingly wrapped around my stranded body.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

UPDATE: Passing fancy, hate everything THE END. UPDATE 2: Ok, untangled that yarn, everything is ok. UPDATE 3: EVERYTHING IS AWFUL AGAIN I've been stitching since forever so...yeah.

In which part of Austin do you live? (N, NW, Central, S, SW, Lakeway, Cedar Park, etc.)
