Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

A girlfriend I worked with taught me to crochet in 1973. Then I used it to quit smoking - I spent several months before Christmas making 6 or 7 afghans - kept my hands busy. Quit smoking and got a great hobby! Just now learning to knit.

What's your favorite fiber?

Anything that is soft, soft! My husband laughs because I like to touch, feel and pet all the yarns.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Soft Blankets, pillows, bedding, clothes & shawls, maybe even shoes....

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

Crocheting has been lifelong, and if I can "get" knitting, I am sure it will be too!

Hi Lived in Austin all my 56 years. Wonderful husband, 2 daughters, 2 granddaughters & 1 due July, & 2 step-daughters... 2 furbabies - a Maltese, & a Bichon. Crocheter for 33 years, off & on. Want to meet other knitters -I'm just leaning to knit.
