Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My grandma taught me how to crochet years ago, but I didn't really pick it up. I can crochet a granny square, though! Then about 15 years ago a family friend taught my cousin and I how to knit a dishcloth. I've been knitting off and on ever since, but for the past five years seriously.

What's your favorite fiber?

currently Sunshine yarns merino sock, but cashmere and silk are faves, too.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

an afghan, unless it's a really hot tropical island...

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

in it for good!

I've been in Austin since the summer of 2010 (moved from Northern California), and enjoy meeting crafty people to hang out and knit with in the South Austin area.
