Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My dad taught me when I was a kid, maybe six or seven years old. I did it a lot as a young teenager, but then not much until about five years ago. I haven't been able to put down the needles since.

What's your favorite fiber?

Wool, naturally. : ) I am also in love with alpaca, silk and cashmere. who isn't? I use cotton for certain projects, but I prefer something springier.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Oooo. Well, I would probably have to begin with a dress, and then a throw. I would prefer not to be stranded on a desert island, though, if only because there won't be much need for knitted items.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

I like "lifelong passion" better than my husband's term, "obsession". Both may be true, but one sounds like it needs treatment, and the other sounds very healthy. I always have something in the works, even if I can't get to it for a day or two. Usually I have two or three projects to go back and forth between.

In which part of Austin do you live? (N, NW, Central, S, SW, Lakeway, Cedar Park, etc.)

I am an avid knitter. I make sweaters, socks, felted bags, and anything else I can think of. I would like to start spinning, too. I would love to meet some other people who are doing these kinds of things.

What Laura is saying about this Meetup Group

I enjoy getting together with other knitters, and seeing what other people are working on. Inspirational. : )
