Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

I learned to knit from my mother as a young lass in Australia and knitted a new sweater every winter. As a teenager I would ride the train to the city to go to work and someone would bring their knitting on the train -- the next day half the rest of the females would be knitting. I learned to crochet in high school (in math class). I have not knitted or crochet for probably 30 years.

What's your favorite fiber?

smooth and fluffy

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

A sail -- hopefully someone else would be building the raft out of wood. If not, then I would knit the sail then use the needles to make the raft -- (If I was Tom Hanks or McGyver):=).

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

I do not know. Whenever I see some a scane of wool I get the urge to knit something. I used to knit from a small one until I was about 21. Then it just seemed easier to buy the sweater. When

In which part of Austin do you live? (N, NW, Central, S, SW, Lakeway, Cedar Park, etc.)

Introduction

I joined previously but wasn't in the right place to start knitting again / socializing. I'm now ready
