Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

I learned to knit in junior high from my Mom but, after making a couple of scarves and a doll's out fit, I stopped until 6 years ago when I started up again while going through chemo. So, I've been knitting now (really) on and off for 6 years.

What's your favorite fiber?

I love the expensive stuff - Morehouse Merino, laceweight cashmere/silk, baby alpaca and kid-mohair/silk blends. Because I like the expensive stuff but I am on a tight budget, I knit lace. That way, I can make a 100gm hank last...

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

Lace. :) Lots and lots of lace!!!!

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

Lifelong passion... :)

My name is Shefali O'Hara and I've been living in Round Rock for about 3 years. I had cancer 7 years ago (I am now in remission), but it was while I was going through chemo that I started knitting again.
