Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My mother taught me as a kid, but I forgot for many years. I retaught myself back in the summer of 2003 and made my mother an afghan in one month. It helped that as a teacher, I have summers off. :) Otherwise, my projects tend to take years.

What's your favorite fiber?

Still just using acrylic, although I'm trying new yarns for hats.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

An afghan.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

I taught myself how to crochet a few years ago. It's not always easy to make crocheting a priority with two little ones running around, so my periods of activity come and go...

I thought it would be nice to meet others who like to crochet and might be willing to help me learn how to knit.
