Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

My grandma taught me to knit and crochet when I was a child. I did a bit of crochet when I was younger. I thought knitting was too hard. About 8 or 9 years ago a friend of mine was knitting her heart out making scarf after scarf. I decided to learn again. She showed me how to cast on and it came back to me. My first project, this time around was a scarf that I embellished with with crocheted flowers. It is stunning. I don't think that I missed a stich. Can we say beginner's luck? I'm not that good in reality and I can frog and tink with the best of them.

What's your favorite fiber?

I love natural fibers. Silk, wool, cotton, blends. All feel so wonderful when they run thru my fingers.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

I'd probably make an afghan. I'd love to wrap myself in cashmere.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

I'm sure that knitting will be a lifelong passion. I've been at it for more than 3 years.

Introduction

I'm Kelly. I moved to Austin in April 2013. Knitting has been my lifeline. It's been a way to meet people and get out of the house. I live with my husband Bob, my son Nathaniel and our "babies"
