The Austin Natural Movement Meetup Group is a fun, fitness-oriented bunch of folks who take our inspiration from "natural movement" (also called MovNat). This means exercising the way humans evolved to move, such as the way kids naturally play and the movements of people in tribal cultures. We meet regularly, mostly at outdoor locations such as parks and nature preserves, to have fun climbing trees, scrambling over rocks, throwing rocks, jumping over stuff, sprinting, playing tag, and having a great time! If you're in the Austin area, please join our group. It's an ideal alternative to the gym and you'll meet great people, too!
IS THIS FOR ME?
Yes! The group is open to all fitness levels. Whether you're a couch potato, a triathlete, or anywhere in between, if you like being outside and challenging yourself, we think you'll love doing this! Our group includes people of all ages, both women and men. Kids are welcome, and they'll have a blast.
While some of the moves look may challenging, once you try this, you'll be surprised at how many cool things you can do!
The type of natural movement we do is inspired by MovNat and the work of Erwan Le Corre. To get an idea of the meaning of moving naturally, here's a quote from Erwan:
