    Docker in the context of CoreOS, or some other base? Fleet for service discovery, or something else?

      I don't mean to be a jerk, however if people are searching this will help:

      Shoot ... Fleet is a distributed interface to systemd. Think of it as light weight orchestration of services. etcd is service discovery using the Raft consensus algorithm, systemd is a modern init system beyond SysV and upstart.

    Hello Ian:

    I am not planning to used CoreOs for this, rather Ubuntu and Consul. You can get a flavor for technical aspects with this first blog post:

    I plan to show off some great components by Jeff Lindsay (registrator and logspout) while talking about some of Dockers consequences. There will be at least one follow up blog that uses the consul setup described above to run a PHP app with Redis using consul to connect them. It will also be part of the talk.

    Beyond that, give the time constraints and interest we might discuss * hardening consul
    * consensus algorithms
    * service discovery
    * scheduling
    * CoreOS

    If you are using or considering Docker, please check out We are just getting the word out now!

    I look forward to seeing you.
