My mind trusting my heart... my feet trusting my path... My practice draws from Jewish Shamanism and Shamanic Herbalism, as well as the core traditions of contemporary shamanism.
Before I had the term "shamanic practice" available to self-identify with, I've been interested going back to childhood. I began to work with something properly called a spiritual practice, shamanic in style if not in terminology, in the late 1980's. My practice strengthened and deepened in the years following, drawing on depthwork practices informed by alternative-psychology practitioners. Since the late 90's I've also explicitly anchored my practice back through into in the earth-based traditions and energywork practices tracing back to the indigenous shamanic roots lying (hidden in plain sight) within my native lineage of Judaism. My practice acquired a deeper anchor in core contemporary shamanism in 2007 when I first began training and practicing with the Austin Shamanism group. Most recently, in the last year, I have added another layer of formal training, in shamanic herbalism.

I love that pic of you! I kinda thought it was you but wanted to make certain ;) This last circle was really good because I was able to pick up my drum, it was ready for me. I have only had it for a few months, and we don't really know each other all that well! I look forward to the next cirlce, and I hope to be at Wed night's healing circle. At least I think it is on Wed., I have to check the schedule!
Karen, thank you for your wonderful support. You helped me gain something from the last circle along with Gerry and the very wonderful group.
Great photo Karen. Good to see you back.
Karen is a warm, compassionate spirit with a great deal of innate wisdom. I'm really enjoying getting to know her!
