An Introduction to Mobile Responsive Design

Mobile responsive design is all about automatically delivering your audience the content they want, within the context that they’re viewing it. In this WordPress Beginners session we will discuss what makes a website “Responsive.” We will examine how a responsive website automatically changes the layout to fit the device you’re using at the time; and how optimizing your layout and adapting the sites content can improve the mobile reader experience.

We look at designing your site for the four general screen sizes that responsive design has been used for: the widescreen desktop monitor, the smaller desktop (or laptop), the tablet, the mobile phone, and look at what’s coming next. Nick Batik will lead this session.

Nick: I didn't get to this part last time. I want to retake your class so I can complete some things.

I join Sanjay on the S**t list, because I too planned to attend tonight's session but had to respond to a last-minute priority related to fundraising for a startup. I hate being a now-show, know how hard the WP leaders work to put these sessions together, and realize that someone could have taken my spot if I canceled in time. 'Both appreciative and sorry.

I sure hope a video/powerpoint is posted online of today's presentation. Unfortunately due to my sick kid, I have to stay home to take care of him. I was so looking forward to attending today's class and rebuild my dad's website (http://grkraj.org/) and make it into not only a mobile-friendly website but perhaps use Wordpress as a conduit to redo his site. Next time, perhaps :)

Thank you all for conducting these classes. Really appreciate you all doing it.

    Hi Sandra and Nicholas,
Could you provide a little more information about who your session is intended for and what kind of info you'll be sharing? Is it intended for Graphic Designers? Developers? Site owners who don't have design/development skills? Will you be getting into HTML/CSS or are you sharing things that can be done using the admin console? Thanks for clarifying!

This is a beginners meetup. This course will introduce the concepts of Responsive Design, give some examples, and discuss why RWD is important, both now and for the future of your site.
