I just wanted to reach out to everyone and tell you a little about the way our meetings work and the type of writers who come to them, in the hopes of inspiring more great writers to become involved. We've had regular meetings (about every two weeks) for well over three years and are still going strong. There is no charge to participate in meetings.
What are typical meetings like:
Where: Currently on the North Side of Chicago accessible by CTA
When: Sundays at 4pm
- About 8 members each meeting
- About 3 - 5 pieces posted for critique each meeting
- Short stories, novels and plays are being critiqued
- by published and unpublished authors
One particularly important point of the updates relates to the fact that the focus of our critique meetings is about improving work, NOT helping people get published. While publishing is a worthy goal, the focus of this group is helping writers fine tune works, which either have literary value or are otherwise substantive (i.e. scholarly). All such works are welcome.
The meeting page and other parts of the site were updated today, if you're looking for more information.
Hopefully we will see some new faces.
