The Navajo Nation is home to the awesome haunting splendor of world famous Antelope Canyon. Carved from the rugged Navajo sandstone by a millennium of rain and wind, these natural cathedrals have an uplifting mysticism that words cannot fully describe. Come see nature's surprising masterpiece of color! Please RSVP if you are interested in attending so that I have an idea of our group size.
Our tour is offered by Carol Bigthumb of Navajo Antelope Canyon Tours (www.navajoantelopecanyon.com). We will be picked up from the airport in suburbans at 1100am (be sure to arrive to the airport by 1030am), transported 20 minutes to the canyon where we will spend about 1 hr and 15 minutes, then returned back to the airport. This will cost $31 per person. There is an optional add-on if we wish to see Rattlesnake Canyon...this is an additional hour for an additional $14 per person. Rattlesnake Canyon has arches, which I've been told are worth seeing. We'll ask the group what they prefer and the majority will rule. When we return, we'll be dropped off at the Ranch House Grill, which is about half a mile from the airport, where we'll enjoy lunch.
Note: I realize this is a chilly time of year in Northern Arizona but if you love photography, this might be the best time to get photos of the canyon without a lot of other tourists in your shot. It will be about 45 - 50 F in Page and about 10 degrees cooler in the canyon. Be sure to dress warmly!
Optional add-on: We won't be far from the Lake Powell Resort if you have an interest in staying overnight. There's a nice restaurant there, too, with a great view of the lake.
