While I flew jets in the Air Force I never felt the need to get any advanced civilian ratings and prefer low and slow VFR or IFRR ( I follow railroads) Why didn't I become a professional pilot? Why would I want to marry my mistress?
A flight to Sedona for lunch is great! I actually used this in the past as a fund raiser at auctions for non-profit organizations. A flight to Sedona for brunch would auction off for $[masked] and I'd get a few bucks to help with gas costs and (usually) a free lunch, a great way to have fun, meet people AND contribute. Sold THREE trips in various auctions raising about $700.00 for charity. Try it yourself. You don't need a commercial license to do something like this type of flight.
Flying since '75 when I restored a '40 Taylorcraft BC-65. Now have 5 planes, a '40 T-cart BC-65 (just like my first plane) , a '51 Bellanca Cruisemaster & my latest addition (&b1st spam can) a Zodiac 610HDS. 2 T-carts are in Seligman being restored.
