Monthly Meeting

The primary activity of each meeting will be the review of some written work applying Objectivist principles to aspects of modern culture.  Our method is to "chew" a particular essay -- to review, to discuss, to increase the depth of our understanding of the principles and observations it contains. While our topics are selected to interest those who are familiar with Objectivism, anyone interested in the philosophy is welcome, as are their questions.

For the coming months we will discuss excepts from Harry Binswanger's new book "How We Know - Epistemology on an Objectivist Foundation."  (Available from amazon.com or from the publisher at how-we-know.com)

For pubic discussion, we are starting with Chapter 7 - "Logic: Practice" for two reasons.  First, the first six chapters are highly technical and do not lend themselves to informal discussion - this is not an academic seminar.  Familiarity with the Objectivist  understanding of logic (AR: "The art of non-contradictory identification") and its application in the processes of concept formation and verification is sufficient for our discussion.  Second, this chapter examines in detail the necessity of using logic  in all aspects of gaining and integrating knowledge.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
