Tomorrow (Tuesday) night, PBS FRontline is going to have an episode tomorrow night claiming that the mortgage meltdown was caused by criminal activity on Wall Street, and the only reason there have not been criminal prosecutions for this is some sort of corrupt government conspiracy.

If fraud was committed, most of Wall Street, including most of the big banks, were suckered in as much as anyone. Wall Street is guilty of lending money to people who weren't going to pay it back, but stupidity and criminality are two different things.

When I went down to OWS and talked to the kids there, many of them had the impression that Wall Street had acted criminality. But none of them had an answer to my question of what charge should be leveled.

I don't have cable, and I'll be busy tomorrow night, but I'm going to watch this episode on the internet as soon as I can.
