Solar and Sustainability-My Way - Daylighting Techniques w/ Luis Peris (Part 2)

The popular Living With the Sun - AZ Style 2012 Lectures continue the series of personal experiences, perspectives and information about living in the desert sustainability with a second presentation by architect/engineer/humanist Luis Peris.

Luis' description of this sharing/interactive session:

This is the second presentation of this series on Daylighting. The first one covered the fundamentals, history, and importance of daylighting whereas the second one focuses on practical strategies and techniques for Arizona. The main principle is still letting the sun work for you instead of you working for the sun.

We will discuss methodologies for harvesting and also controlling sunlight into inhabited spaces, coordination of daylight and electric lighting for consistent and continuous illumination, working with the heat gain component of sunlight and seasonal orientation, materials and their characteristics, and we'll conclude with a comprehensive Q&A session.

Luis Peris - Instructor - Daylighting Strategies - Sonoran Sustainable Building Advisor Program; P.E., A.I.A., LEED AP, , who will share his knowledge, thoughts and experiences in the arena of solar energy - from a daylighting perspective, including a bit of history; a bit of the present; developing technologies; solar and sustainability integration; and personal action.

Luis' background in the art of engineering architecture and his interest in history and culture makes him a unique lecturer for continuing this season's series.

The 2012 Series put on by the Arizona Solar Center, Inc. an Arizona nonprofit collaborative (; and the Arizona Solar Energy Association (State Chapter of ASES), under the auspices of the City of Scottsdale Green Building Program is free; requires no reservations; and occurs on the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the City of Scottsdale Granite Reef Center - just north of the intersection of McDowell Rd. and Granite Reef Rd. in south Scottsdale.
