What is dragon boat racing? Dragon boat racing is a 42 foot canoe with a dragon head and tail. It has 10 benches, a drummer seat and requires 20 paddlers and a drummer to work together in harmony to acheive a common goal.
The DC Dragon Boat Club invites you to come out and experience paddling first hand. What a way to spend a beautiful morning, paddling on the Washington Channel and Potomac River.
What to expect: You will warm up with the club and other beginning paddlers. We will then get on the water for about an hour and free paddle, teach you the stroke technique, and the mechanics of paddling in a race. You can find more information about the sport and what to expect on our website at http://dcdragonboat.org/firstday.htm
What to bring: Bring water and dress appropriately for the water and the weather. Should the weather be cold it's best to wear layers of non-cotton clothing.
