Flash Photography 101

  • This location is shown only to members

This meet up will be for the beginner flash user. We will focus on both speedlight and studio strobe photography, beginning with the basics of exposure to using your flash to overcome a bad lighting situation and be more creative. The goal is to have attendees leave with a better understanding of their speedlight and how to work in a studio environment. Due to space we will have to limit meetup to 10 members, if there is enough interest we will add additional classes.

We will be covering:
How to control flash exposure
Taking your flash off camera and triggering systems
Balancing flash and ambient light
High Speed Sync
Hypersync
Studio lighting and equipment
Creative lighting and outdoor lighting
Flash modifiers

We are not setting an end time at this point.
There will be a $10 charge for this meetup, cost will cover studio equipment use, teaching materials and snacks. Additional money will go into ASW funds.

How long will this class go?

    March 10, 2013

    • Jose

Class will be 3-4 hours but since we are doing it at my house we can extend the time if needed. We will have a portion of the time dedicated to going over technique and then the second half putting it into practice.

I don't have a speedlight. I have a Quantum Q Flash Trio. Will this meeting help me?

The meetup will cover a large variety of lighting equipment and lighting techniques so if you feel you are not getting everything you could out of your equipment or have questions about lighting I would encourage you to come. I have used the q flash system and loved it!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
