Hi Jerry and all,

First of all, I am up for the challenge.  In my thoughts, if we are going to present something to the club in offer of a challenge, shouldn't we be willing to take the same material somewhere else for the same kind of challenge?  I read the other emails regarding this and I did not see that you offered a date, but several others did.  So, I am up for it.

I happen to use Photoshop CS3, but I am very much of a beginner.  In fact, I have used the site www.radiantvista.com plus a book that is called the Photoshop CS3 Photographers Companion to help me along to learning the program.  I had my first experience in shooting camera raw this weekend, so I am looking forward to working the process that Mark Johnson outlined in the book to see how the pictures I took come out.  So, I am definately at the "b" level you described.

Just as a reminder, while Patsy is not a member of the club, she is with me.  She does not use any photo software yet.  I am working on her though.  She has a cataract that she needs to have removed, so she is constantly using the "crutch" that she isn't able to see the view finder that well.  I know from experience that what she is saying is true and she is using the small nikkon with the big screen on the back, but still has trouble getting it all lined up.

As far as the day, let us know so we can mark it on our calendar.

Subject: [digcam-216] Message Board - On Camera Flash..........

We have received a challenge of sorts & I would like to get some feedback from all members on this subject and one more item, please.

First, I would like to accept this challenge if the membership is ready. In order to be sure we are going to be prepared, I would also like to schedule an interim meeting/workshop to address the subject of "On Camera Flash" & see that we are prepared to produce some really nice images using JUST the on-camera flash. I believe we can do this and it should be fun to have a little competition over the Internet between the 2 clubs.

In addition, there was some pretty strong interest in another suggestion for a future challenge either for ourselves or with that "other" group on the east side. I propose to demonstrate how to put an item of color into a Black & White conversion at this same meetup. This is really a pretty simple thing to do but if we do it as a group there would be a chance to give individual instruction to members who may not be real familiar with their editing software.

This leads me to my second question.

1. What is the name of the photo editing program(s) you are currently using?

2. What would you say your proficiency level is? a. Haven't opened it yet.
b. Just a beginner & I need all the help I can get.
c. I'm more than a beginner but could use some help.
d. I'm moving right along, intermediate.
e. I'm an experienced pro but open to suggestions.
f. I am an expert & willing to teach.

We don't want to move too fast for some less experienced members but we have also had other members offer to be mentors & teachers for the beginning level folks so you can have an opportunity to fast-track the learning experience if you wish.

If we get a positive response to this e-mail I am going to suggest we have the meetup/workshop either Tuesday, July 22 @ 7 PM or Saturday, July 26 @ 10 AM at the same place we had our first meeting, the Las Casitas Clubhouse.

Please let me know you response by Monday, July 7 @ 9 PM. Thank you for your participation!
