Three Mile Creek Trail

The Three Mile Creek Trail #635 heads northwest into the Arapaho National Forest and Mt Evans Wilderness area through beautiful shady forest with lots of stream crossings, mostly on narrow split log bridges. This is a moderate 6.6 mile in and out hike with about 1000 feet of elevation gain.

Carpool: Meet at The Fort at 8am - the parking lot is located off US285 at the CO8 Morrison/Evergreen Exit.  We'll form carpools here.

Directions: From the Denver area, take US 285 west for about 40 miles to the small town of Grant. Turn right onto CR 62 (Guanella Pass Road) and continue north for 2.8 miles. The trailhead is on the right. Be aware that this stretch of CR 62 is a rough dirt road. While most cars should have no problem, a 4-wheel drive vehicle might not be a bad idea.

Drive southwest from Denver on US 285 approximately 40 miles to Grant. Turn right (north) onto Park County 62 (towards Guanella Pass), and drive 2.8 miles to the trailhead on the right (east) side of the road. There is a limited amount of parking at the trailhead.

Optional lunch after the hike at a nearby restaurant.

See you there!

Will someone tell me where I missed the connection last Thurs. re: 3-mile Creek hike?

Not sure cus we didn't actually get in cars and drive away until closer to 8:05am. Best way to not miss the group is to arrive early (at least 5-10 minutes). Allows us time to chat a bit and figure out carpools and be on our way by posted time. Hope to see you another time.

My (modestly precise) watch altimeter showed over 1,700 foot elevation gain.

Pictures are going up next. Based on my GPS unit, we hiked 6.4 miles and the fast group did it in 2 hr 50 min. Total elevation shows up as 1987'.

Wow, the protrails description was way off on the elevation gain!! The "fast group" rocks!

So. . .from the experienced hikers. . . what do you think the elevation on the hike was? Just curious. . .

Great hike and the weather was perfect. Still very dry but Three Mile Creek was flowing good. Happy we saw a few wildflowers including Fairy Slipper, Marsh Marigold, Dandelion, and some others. Aspen trees are not completely leafed out.

    Hi
    I missed it...
I was in Morrison right at 8:01am this morning, it was to be my first time on this group plan.
I am not sure what happened. I went to the Fort and saw vehicles parked perpendicular to the Fort (on left) but no bodies anywhere! So
I was there but I do not know where I missed the connection. I waited around about 10 minutes.

Rustic Station in Bailey can accommodate 20 of us with separate checks. I'll take a head count at the carpool location and call the restaurant.
