Cancelling this hike sooner rather than later - the forecast for tomorrow is a frigid 10 degrees and possibility of more snow. 9 miles in these temps would not be much fun, so stay warm and see you another time!
This is a long, but easy walk with little to no elevation gain, 8.8 mile trail that follows the perimeter of Barr Lake State Park. There are shorter walks to various boardwalks that extend over the lake that we can check out too. We'll walk clockwise in the direction of the Nature Center. Bring binoculars if you want to get a closer view of the wildlife. The road across the top of the dam (Crest Trail) might just be the highest point of this trail!
Carpool Location - Meet at 8:30am in the parking lot near BW3, McDonalds & Chick Fila located west of I-76 at Exit 21, 144th Avenue, also Eagle Blvd. We'll form some carpools here with driver's who have State Park Passes. Otherwise, it's $7 per car to enter the park. Or you can form a carpool from your location - please post a comment if you plan to bypass the carpool location, so I know whether to meet you there. Thanks!
Optional lunch after the walk at Buffalo Wild Wings located at 2025 Prairie Center Parkway in Brighton, I-76, Exit 21 or 144th Avenue or Eagle Blvd (they have salads, wings, beer). Your car will be here if you decided to carpool.
Directions to Trail - I-76 to Bromley Lane, Exit 22. Turn right on Bromley Lane and continue east on 152nd to Picadilly Road. Turn right and follow to park entrance on your right.
See you there!
