Please read the following changes to this hike and change your RSVP now if it doesn't fit into your schedule. It will be a FULL DAY!
Heard the Lily Mountain Trail recently reopened! However, there is no trail from the lake to the mountain and we won't be walking on the hiway! So the hiking route is changed to Lily Lake and Eugenia Mine. I've never hiked to the mine but I read its easy. This will be a Full Day! I expect to return to the carpool location no earlier than 4:30pm.
Reservation for 20 at the Baldpate Inn for soup and salad buffet after the hike. Soup/Salad Buffet $15; drinks extra; $6 pie; separate checks with gratuity added. Read about the Baldpate Inn www.baldpateinn.com
The Lily Lake Trail is a 1 mile flat trail around a beautiful lake with spectacular views of surrounding peaks.
The exploratory hike to Eugenia Mine is a short 2 miles with very little elevation gain. Great views of Longs Peak. We're looking at about 4 miles total for the day.
Please Note: Estes Park is a long drive for some of you and you may not think its worth it for a 4 mile easy hike. Please change your RSVP now if this doesn't meet your expectations.
Optional Refreshment after the hike at the Baldpate Inn. Cost $15 for soup/salad buffet. Wine and beer extra. Slice of fresh baked pie is $6. Separate checks will be available with gratuity added.
Carpooling: Meet at the free dirt parking lot located on the northeast corner of Hiway 93 and 170/Marshall Mesa (the road to Eldorado Canyon) where we'll form some carpools and leave by 6:45am.
