Crescent Meadows to Walker Ranch

Crescent Meadows-Walker Ranch Loop is an 8+ mile roundtrip hike starting near Gross Dam Reservoir in Coal Creek Canyon. It's a moderately difficult hike leading down to the Boulder Creek with around 2,000 feet of elevation gain (roundtrip). Great view of mountains to the west, open mountain meadow dropping down to South Boulder Creek and interconnecting with Boulder County Parks and Open Space’s Walker Ranch Loop Trail. Beginning Elevation: 7,500

Carpooling: Meet at the dirt parking lot located located on hiway 72 (west of hiway 93 heading into Coal Creek Canyon). Driving north on 93, turn left at the intersection of hiway 93 and 72 - the parking lot is located on the north side (right) of hiway 72 on Plainview Road (I think). We'll form carpools and leave the lot by 8:15am.

Directions to the Trailhead: Two ways to get there - From Denver/Golden get to the intersection of Highways 93 and 72, south of Boulder. Go up Highway 72 (Coal Creek Canyon) 8.2 miles. Turn right by the fire station on Crescent Road to Gross Dam Road (county road 77) for about 2.4 miles. Cross over the railroad tracks and park at the Crescent Meadows trailhead on the right.

If you're coming from Boulder - Drive up Flagstaff Road 8 miles. Turn left on to Gross Dam Road(To:State Highway 72 sign). Go 2.5 miles, turn left at the absurdly small "To Denver" sign ( A big brown garage is nearby). Continue on 1.5 miles to the Crescent Meadows trailhead on the left.

Optional Refreshment after the hike at a nearby restaurant TBD.

It's nice to see quite a bit of vegetation coming back after the fire. I finally caught up at the cafe!!!

DebbieSorry to be a light weight, but I just can't get excited about hiking in the mud.

I awoke to four inches of snow and temperature of 25°F so I am not going to hike with you today. Sorry.

Could be muddy tomorrow so might want to bring poles and micro spikes. Also, remember a change of shoes and a plastic bag for your muddy boots so you don't muddy up anyone's car. Thanks!
