Enjoy a 3-day weekend in Glenwood Springs! Main attraction is soaking in the hot springs, but there are lots of other things to do too. Ride the tram to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, shop on main street, enjoy a spa treatment at Spa of the Rockies, visit the Vapor Caves, have dinner on the rooftop patio at Juicy Lucy's Steak House, enjoy dinner at the Italian Underground, have an evening drink on the patio of the Historic Colorado Hotel or enjoy a microbrew at the Historic Hotel Denver's Glenwood Brewery, eat breakfast at Sacred Grounds or the Daily Bread, shop, see a movie, take a walk, ride a bike, or just relax!
Lodging: First things first, book your hotel room at the Hotel Denver. This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown restaurants, shopping and the hot springs pool. You can book online at www.thehoteldenver.com or call [masked] or[masked]-6565. Value Rooms are $99 per night and a Standard or Denver Room is $139 per night. Arrange with other members for roommates or book a room for yourself.
Carpools: Arrange your own carpool by adding a note to your RSVP about your interest in driving or riding. Meet me at 9am at the Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride located off I-70 and Morrison Road if you want to carpool. I can take 3 passengers. Also, we're only gone for a couple of nights, so if you're riding with someone, please travel light so everyone has room for their bag.
Activities: Thursday - My plan is to arrive in Glenwood Springs around 1:30pm, check into the hotel and head to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for a couple of hours (weather permitting). I'm taking the Tram ($12) to the top where I plan to enjoy the views and maybe ride the alpine coaster, the canyon swing or take a cave tour ($22 covers the tram and tour). Park closes at 6pm. Happy Hour and Dinner at the Glenwood Brewery. Friday - My plan is to spend the day at the hot springs soaking, reading, and relaxing (weather permitting). It's $18.95 to enter through the hot springs or $32 to enter through the Athletic Club. I prefer the Athletic Club because I like the amenities - all the pool towels you want, nice locker rooms, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, private showers, blow dryers, swim suit dryer, etc. If you're interested in a spa treatment at the Spa of the Rockies (located at the hot springs pool), I suggest you book your appointment as soon as possible [masked]). If the weather is too cool to sit out, I'll probably just hang out in the hot pool. Pool Day Breakfast/Lunch choices - bring a small cooler with your breakfast and lunch to the pool or eat in the restaurant at the pool, or get a stamp and walk to a restaurant outside the pool. At any rate, I suggest bringing some water and snacks to the pool. Dinner at Juicy Lucy's or the Pullman. Saturday - check out 11am.
Restaurants: My plan is to go to restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. However, there are many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner that require driving.
Shopping: There are lots of little shops within walking distance of the hotel. I'm not a shopper, so probably won't be joining you for this activity. There are a couple of grocery stores if you want to buy water and snacks to take to the pool.
Activities: This is meant to be a relaxing weekend, so there are no cardio activities planned! However, I do enjoy walking so will probably take some strolls around the neighborhood, across the bridge to the Colorado Hotel and the pool and to the coffee shops and restaurants. Other than that, it's pure relaxation!!
See you there!
