Hike Coldwater Canyon Park – Wilacre Park Loop

Coldwater Canyon Park – Wilacre Park Loop
Sunday November 3, 2013

Sunday November 3, 2013:  Coldwater Canyon Park–Wilacre Park Loop

This is an easy 3 mile loop hike with 450 ft elevation gain from the TreePeople Coldwater Canyon Park to Wilacre Park Estate with nice views of the San Fernando Valley along with Chaparral covered ridges and wooded canyons surrounded by residential neighborhoods. This is an easy hike for those who have hesitated to join us before with a great opportunity to get introduced to hiking, nature and a fun, friendly group of people.  California black walnut trees arch over much of the wide trail, providing early shade and beauty along the way for all to enjoy.  We will meet at the end of the Parking Lot by the water fountain.  The hike should be over before noon and we can go to brunch at after the hike at either Le Pain Quotidien located at 13045 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604 or Il Tramezzino located at 13031 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604. Both restaurants are located right next to each other and we can decide which one to go to depending upon the size of the group and whoever can accommodate us..

two liters of water, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking boots or shoes with good traction, daypack, hiking poles/sticks, shorts and a T-shirt or long pants and long sleeved shirt, depending on weather.  Clothes should be loose fitting, and light-colors are preferable

Hiking boots or shoes with good traction. Absolutely no sandals or open toed shoes.

From Pico & Robertson proceed west on Pico blvd ½ mile to Beverly drive.  Right (north) on Beverly Drive for 2.1 miles.  Past Sunset blvd continue on Beverly Drive which turns into Coldwater Canyon Drive. Continue 3 miles to the intersection with Mulholland Drive. Go to the left, staying on Coldwater Canyon Dr. and proceed 0.4 miles to the posted Coldwater Canyon/TreePeople Park on the right. Turn right into the parking area.  Meet at the back of the parking lot away from Coldwater Canyon.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
