Tiptoe through the Tulips

Thanks for your patience as I tried to learn more about the locations. Almost by default (something is up with the Descanso web site) - ta-da ---- It's the Arboretum! I went to the Arboretum about this time of year last year with the LAWS group (Thanks, Beth!). It really is a unique experience as you will see as soon as you enter if you haven't been before. It's amazing to realize it is so close to LA yet seems a world apart. We'll have to picnic outside the grounds since picnics on the site are only allowed on third Sundays. There's also a Peacock Cafe inside the park if you prefer to go that route. There's so much to see here, we may want to hop the tram ($3) for an overview. It probably goes without saying, but rain will cancel the event. This will be the last day of the LA Garden Show where you'll be able to meet experts and well-known gardening authors. They will be available to assist with garden design, too! You can buy one-of-a-kind plants... The entrance fee is $7 and $3 for the tram if we decide to do that tour.

A beautiful place with nice folks. The potluck was delish! Thanks for the goodies, Crystal.

The tram isn't running on Sunday, so we'll have to cover it with the walk.

JT: Good old Wikipedia says "It was filmed primarily in Burbank, California with the opening scenes of the enchanting island coastline being that of Kauai, Hawaii. The gorgeous house with the bell tower, where Tattoo rings the bell, is the Queen Anne Cottage, located in the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia. The plane, "arriving" with the guests, was filmed in the lagoon behind the Queen Anne Cottage. Sometimes, outdoor scenes were filmed at the Arboretum.

I also went with LAWS last year to the Arboretum and enjoyed a wonderful potluck picnice with the ladies and peacocks. There were moments of serenity and excitement when a few peacocks' personal space was invaded by the friendly LAWS ladies.
