The venue: RAVENSHURST WINERY.
Our next meetup will be held at the Ravenshurst Winery (more details to follow).
My intention is to get a van seating 7-9 folks (since at least 9 of the folks who have RSVPd have indicated that they are providing their own transportation to Ravenhurst). I can ferry a small group from Dublin to the winery and back on Saturday. This is at no cost, since it is my van. The distance is about 45 miles, or 1 hour by car, so we will need to leave Dublin by 2 PM. If you are interested in coming with us in our van, please call me at [masked].

Details:

Saturday the 8th of November from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM is "The Feast of the Boneless Fowl" at Ravenshurst and comes complete with matching wines for $28.95 PP. Chuck Harris, the owner of the winery, will be our host. I have 18 seats blocked off in our name.

If you RSVP, Ravenshurst requires that you provide them with a credit card to guarantee your reservation. You will be guaranteeing the $28.95 + tax (NO tip is expected) for the wine dinner. You will NOT be pre-paying for the limo or van...I will work that out separately. Call the WINERY to give your credit card to RSVP, not me to do this. [masked] (Nina Harris' cell) or [masked] (winery). I will have to cancel your RSVP if a credit card is not on file with the winery, or otherwise I will be responsible for your dinner if you are a no-show. This is an EXCLUSIVE event, and is usuallu only open to the folks on their mailing list. Their new release wines will be highlighted (Chardonnay and Pinot). They specialize in dessert wines and Champagnes. Chuck (the winemaker and owner) states that we will probably need a limo or designated driver with the amount of wines available at this event.

We will collect an optional event fee of $5 which will be donated to charity. This month I am designating as our 501 C3 charity: The Arthritis Foundation. Please make your check out to the The Arthritis Foundation (100% fully tax deductible).

Those donating $20 or more to our chosen charity will be placed in a drawing for special prizes including a 4-day Caribbean cruise for 2 adults or a 7-day condo vacation in the USA, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, or Europe. (Yes, were doing it AGAIN!). We will do the drawing if we exceed $280 in donations for the evening. Otherwise, we will carry the drawing forward to the next Bacchus event.

Please note that at our September meeting, no-shows increased the cost for all attendees. I have to guarantee a number to the winery by Friday, October 31st. Otherwise, we may lose some of our blocked seats.

Seating is limited to 18, possibly 19.

    •  I was a little concerned with attendance, as credit cards were required in advance by the winery, but we had 100% attendance. Everyone had a great time! An interesting venue: The winery is 38 minutes from Dublin, OH. A nice drive. The tasting room seats 20. We were all seated and were served along a long bar. The food was very good and the wines were plentiful. I am not a white wine drinker and am not usually a chardonnay fan, but I found my favorite chardonnay here. We sampled copious amounts (GENEROUS pours) of Chard Estate, Cuvee Rose and Pinot Noir 2007. Their dessert wine "Les Corbeaux Quatre" was spectacular. My only regrets is that we were unable to sample their Champagnes (for which they are known) and their award winning Busch-Harris cuvee (son-of-Velvet Hammer, which finished 2nd in the Ohio, Bordeaux, Sonoma taste-off several years ago).
    •  We had a great time...it was a unique experience.
