At some (but not all) venues, we can bring our own wines. Are you willing to do so? We will ask you to briefly introduce yourself and tell why you like this wine. Those bringing wine don't share in corkage fees or group wine purchases.
Do you consider your self a wine novice, an intermediate, or wine expert?
Somewhere in between novice and intermdiate.
Hi Karen. I love port and too often forget about it when I am dinig out. I also love the Refectory. See you there. Barb
Who We Are: We are wine enthusiasts in thecentral Ohio areawho may also be part of the Ohio Chapter of theInternational Bacchus Society. We are not limited solely to the Dublin area, and our group hosts events all over central Ohio. We are called "The Dublin Wine Meetup Group" simply because I live in Dublin and started the group with a few Dublin locals 10 years ago. We now have members all over the city and in surrounding areas all over Ohio.
Founded in November 2006, we have now have over 860 members, and have had over 150 meetings with an average rating of 4.85 out of 5. Join us to meet fellow Wine Enthusiasts near you! We have an even mix of married couples and singles.
Anyone who loves wine is welcome to join our group. No invitation needed.
Come to one of our local Wine Meetups to taste new wines; learn about attributes of wine; and discuss different vintages and estates. Everyone is welcome, from wine novices to educated connoisseurs (we have an even balance). We have a master sommelier in our group.
This meetup is also for individuals who would like to learn more about or join the Ohio Bacchus Society. The Bacchus Society is a philanthropic organization dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and understanding of wines, gourmet food, travel and entertainment. Our events, which are held throughout Central Ohio, are fun and accessible. There is no cost to join the Bacchus Society. More details are here: http://www.bacchussociety.com/
Dues: We have a $10 per person dues per year (which works out to only 83 cents per month) for members of our group to cover the Meetup administrative fees of approximately $180 per year, and the balance of which goes to our supported charities. We collect through WePay, but only receive $8.75 after WePay fees are subtracted. If you prefer, you can also send me a check and we well receive 100% of your dues. Message me and I'll send you the mailing address if you prefer to pay this way.
You do NOT need to pay a membership fee for your guests (unless the guest wants to become a member himself or herself).
You can try the group out for 90 days without paying, but will need to pay to RSVP to an event, however...
If the $10 per year dues are a problem, I will waive dues for anyone who will commit to organize two meetings per year (a few hours' work) at local restaurants or other venues. I do need help in this area and will make you an assistant organizer! If you organize the meeting, you will need to be there to meet and greet people. No expenses are involved on your part.
When your annual dues are collected, you can designate to which charity the proceeds will be directed, and I'll assure it will be done. If you don't designate, we will divide the donations between the two charities. As a member, you can suggest new charities for our group.
Thanks for your participation in our group. Over the last 10 years we have contributed over $17,500.00 to our selected charities. We are doing more than just gathering on a monthly basis and having fun and making new friends. We are making a difference in the lives of many folks served by our selected charities.
