Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska

Nothing fancy or particularly light weight but adequate for 2-7 day trips.
We have a Black Diamond Megamid that makes a great cooking shelter for 4 people in a driving rain or hail storm (which seem to be common here just about cooking time).
We movrf from Alaska to GJ in March '11 so all our backpacking has been in AK in the past 30 years. Prior to that: Sierras, Winds, Big Horns, Snowy Range, all over Colorado; southern AZ.
Great Basin Nat'l Park, San Rafael Swell, Canyonlands
CPR/ 1st Aid, former EMT/WEC certified, Swift Water Rescue (SWRT), can build a snow cave, guided mountaineers on Denali, guided sea kayaking and paddle raft adventures in Alaska; founded/ organizer www.AnchorageAdventurers.org Meetup
My wife and I live in Grand Junction so we are hot to join in on things over toward San Rafael Swell,Capitol Reef and the other national parks farther east. We hike, backpack, raft, canoe. Have 2 large dogs that love to come on hikes (when welcomed).
