I am active in the community, but not as fit as I'd like to be. I enjoy the outdoors with a walk in a wooded area in town regularly. I do not own all the trappings to be fully outfitted for an overnight at this time. Day hikes are my speed.
I love enjoying nature and meeting new people. I am already a member of Hoosier Backpackers and wanted to add to the number of possible hikes that I could participate in. I would like to go at a state park to hike for a day hike and look forward to going to Red River Gorge sometime soon. in the next three to five years I would like to be up to speed on my backpacking skills so that I could hike a section of the AT. I am thinking that it would definitely include the southern part of West Virginia and points southwest and northeast of that, but I need to collect more information before I commit for sure.
I packpacked in the Uinta Mountains in Utah for my first credits in college. As a family growing up, we camped and hiked and spelunked in Spring Mill Park in Southern Indiana every summer. I remember one time we went in a cave with the Naturalist and learned more about the wildlife that lived there and stood in the complete darkness for five minutes. It was really eye opening.
I would rate myself as a novice on equipment and orienteering and as an intermediate in self care-knowing what personal equipment to pack, taking proper amount of water, wearing proper socks and shoes, and packing energy food.

Hi we are almost neighbors, we would love to make it to your art night but I have to teach that week. Anyway I look forward and hope to meet you soon regardless.
Cool! Welcome to the group! :) Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything!
Hi Lisa. I need to connect with you and go for join in on one of these hikes. I saw the backpacking trip this weekend but I don't have time to get stuff together for that. I think I might do better just starting out with hiking. Let me know if you want to drive out to a day hike together sometime.
Welcome to our group, Lisa! I hope to see you at a meetup soon!
Welcome, Lisa! So glad to have you join us. :-) Look for a note soon about an informal coffee with some of the group! -Robin
Hi Lisa,
I'm really looking forward to meeting you at the Anthroposophy meeting. I would love to hear about how things went when you were meeting 10 years ago. So glad that you want to get involved again!
I always sing along with whomever is singing. I hope to put together a list of places to do karaoke and we'll start checking these out. So glad you joined us.
Hi, Lisa and welcome to Servant-Leaders

Hi Lisa, sorry it took me so long to get back with you. The book I quoted from that night was Happy Accidents by Morton A Meyers. subtitles - Serendipity in modern medical breakthroughs, when scientists find what they're NOT looking for. The part I quoted was fitting for me at this point in my life, when I'm not sure what is next for me. It gave me hope that things really will come around and turn out for the best.
