We use the trails, lets help volunteer and improve them.
Just to clarify, you can click attend here, but must also register with the Ice Age Alliance here: http://mobileskills.iceagetrail.org/gibraltar-segment
Now to to details. The Ice Age Trail Alliance hosts multiple trail building events throughout the year. Their larger attended ones are called their Mobile Skills Crew events and usually partake on a Thursday-Sunday. Work usually involves developing new sections of trail and/or improving current sections. The trail is made available thanks to the number of volunteers and these events help bring the masses to accomplish a lot in a little time. No skills or tools are needed to help out. They also always provide food.
I will not be attending this MSC and will be posting more of them throughout the year. I am an active volunteer with the alliance though and hope others are able to make it. But I figure since we use the trail both for our trips but also I'm sure a lot of us use the trail personally as well, so lets contribute back together as a group. They provide free camping as well as free food at the event. We could plan to set our tents near each other if you would like.
This specific event will be at the Gibraltar Rock segment just south of Devils Lake area by ~15/20min. Following is from their website. "We'll continue the transformation of Gibraltar Rock that began at our October 2013 MSC event, building 3/4-mile of new Trail and starting remediation work to nurse the rock back from years of erosion."
Please if you plan to attend fill out the registration form on the IAT website so they can plan for food and activities. http://mobileskills.iceagetrail.org/gibraltar-segment
